Austrian Center

bear, wolf, lynx

Mission statement

The Austrian Centre for Bear, Wolf and Lynx (ÖZ) is the coordinating authority of the federal and state governments for the management of large predators in Austria, which are strictly protected by national and international standards.

It makes a significant contribution to achieving the least conflict-ridden coexistence possible between humans and predators – taking into account public interests as well as the concerns of land users and the population.

The ÖZ pools knowledge, promotes dialogue, and develops practical recommendations and concrete options for action to minimize conflicts between humans and predators.

Together with the federal government, the states and numerous interest groups, the ÖZ develops solution strategies, supports their implementation throughout the federal territory and accompanies their continuous further development.

board

The board members are elected by representatives of the ordinary members from among their number for a term of office of 3 years. Reappointment is possible several times.
