predators and their distribution maps
The Austrian Center focuses on the four large predators. The term predator refers to species that hunt other animals and feed primarily on them. The meaning goes beyond predators as an order of mammals in the narrow sense.
Austria has been confronted with these species again for some time. After being persecuted for many centuries and almost eradicated, they are now returning to our native forests due to strict protection regulations and previous reintroduction projects for bears and lynx.
