This is done by the Austrian Centre for Bear, Wolf, and Lynx in cooperation with the federal states.<\/p>\n<p>The certification includes both the dog and all people who work with the dog. They must show that they can support the dog in various situations by understanding its needs and behavior and responding accordingly. The examiners are experts in the field of dogs commissioned by the \u00d6Z.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tOverview of certification content \t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Beziehung Hund &#8211; Hundehalter, Hund am Hof\/zivilisatorisches Umfeld:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Handling the dog, trainability, behaviour in stressful situations in familiar and unfamiliar surroundings, also away from the herd.<\/li>\n<li>Dog allows itself to be attacked (mouth, paw, fur check), loaded into car\/trailer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Verhalten gegen\u00fcber Fremden &#8211; Mensch und Tier<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encounter with hikers, cyclists, individual passers-by, other dogs, both in the herd and away in villages\/built-up areas<\/li>\n<li>At no time may the dog show aggressive behavior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hund &#8211; Herde:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>checking herd loyalty<\/strong>, with and without distraction.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hund &#8211; andere Hunde im Arbeitsumfeld<\/strong>, behavior towards other livestock guardian and herding dogs, ability to work in a team<\/li>\n<li>When dealing with the herd, strangers should be perceived as a normal part of the environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<p>The full certification policy is available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/baer-wolf-luchs.at\/en\/info\/publikationen-des-oez\/\">Publications of the \u00d6Z<\/a> available for download. The document <a href=\"https:\/\/baer-wolf-luchs.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/OeZ_Checkliste_Zertifizierung_HSH.pdf\">OeZ_Checklist_Certification_HSH<\/a> serves as a guide for farmers who want to register a livestock guardian dog for certification.<\/p>\n<p>A brochure about livestock guardian dogs, their keeping, working methods, history and breeding is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/baer-wolf-luchs.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/LSP_Herdenschutzhunde_Aufzucht_Einsatz.pdf\">LSP_Livestock_Protection_Dogs_Breeding_Deployment<\/a> available.<\/p>\n\t<h3>Certified livestock guardian dogs<\/h3>\nLivestock guardian dogs must comply with the regulations. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&amp;Gesetzesnummer=20003860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2nd Animal Keeping Ordinance<\/a> They will be certified.
